This weekend is the first weekend in months that Steve and I have had off with no travel plans, no work, no nothing. Just a full weekend of nothing but Nashville. It has been amazing so far. Since I just wrapped up launch week with my SPS team, we were given a half day Friday, which was the perfect way to jumpstart the weekend. It feels so good to have some time to kick back and relax.

Additionally, we went to see Minus The Bear play Live on the Green Thursday evening, so that was awesome, too. Gotta love a free music festival with some of your favorite bands. Plus they played early in the night so we stopped at Greko for Greek street food afterwards and then to Dee’s for a couple beers before calling it a night.

Lately my favorite go-to causal outfits consist of blue jeans and bodysuits. I mention time and time again about my lazy girl style because I work from home, but that’s because it can be tough to get dressed up after being cooped up in the house all day. That’s why I love to throw on a fitted bodysuit with some fun detail and wear some denim and sneakers for when I’m going out in public. It makes things easy for a quick jaunt to a coffeeshop or a lunch date on the weekends. When I don’t want to fuss, this style works best.

When the days aren’t incredibly hot and humid, one of my favorite things to do is stroll around East Nashville neighborhoods, window shop, grab coffee, and enjoy the beautiful weather. The sunny-yet-bearable-and-less-humid days are few and far between lately, so when we get a perfectly balanced weather day, there’s nothing better.

I feel like I’m getting my groove back after being in somewhat of an exhausted slump since I returned from Mexico last month. This past week has been more productive than the entire month of July so far and it feels good to have my energy return. Now if I can just get myself to finish up our garden out back, I’ll feel more accomplished. I knew yard work was going to take a lot of elbow grease and motivation at this house, but man, it takes some serious dedication to stay on top of it. Kudos to all you homeowners that spend hours on end in the yard making sure everything is neat. I can barely keep my green bean sprouts alive and those are the easiest things to grow. I’ve got a long road ahead of me, haha!

A couple nights ago, Steve and I decided to go on a last minute dinner date to our favorite taco spot, Bartaco after picking up his car with newly replaced tires. We weren’t ready to go back home (where I spend all day every day working) so I offered up the idea of grabbing a late dinner. I say this every time we randomly go out during the week, but it never fails to amaze me how good it feels to break up the week with a mid-week date and a cocktail.

I decided to take a month-ish off from blogging this mid-summer so that I could catch up on some much needed personal time, freelance, and social activity while also focusing on my mental health. It was definitely worth the break and I’m glad I spent some time with my laptop shut. The month of June was a total blur; I watched the Nashville Predators make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, traveled to Mexico with my coworkers for our Q3 offsite, hosted my mom and sister for a fun weekend in Nashville, and spent the end of the month getting over a sinus infection.

The last week and a half were spent traveling to Cincinnati, Detroit, Ayr, Parry Sound, and Muskegon for family visits, 2 weddings, and fun with friends. We made it back home late Sunday night after a blown out tire in Indianapolis and some major traffic delays. Fortunately we were still able to catch the premiere of Game of Thrones, so the day wasn’t a total loss. To say it’s been a tiring week is an understatement. I’m happy to be home where I can hit reset and get some quality rest.

Last night we intended to see Charlie Worsham play at Basement East for his ‘Every Damn Monday’ residency, but it sold out before we got in. So instead we met our good friends Brian and Trisha at Jeni’s for some ice cream and good conversation. It actually was just what I needed.
