Things are finally starting to calm down after a month of moving, cleaning out the old house, setting up a new home office so I can get back into my work routine. Our house is definitely feeling like home now. It’s so nice to wake up, make my coffee, and walk over to my office and have my routine back. I get all sorts of out of whack when my workday routine gets jacked. It feels good to feel normal again. This past Saturday I hosted a Lifestyle Blogging Basics workshop for the Nashville Blogging Collective. I love the girls I meet through that network so dang much. I always feel re-energized after meeting incredible like-minded Nashville bloggers. Special thanks to Tiffany of Tiff + Coco for inviting me to host the workshop! I had the best time.

I had so much fun this past weekend at the Zappos Friends with Benefits Road Show here in Nashville. I already had assumed the event would be awesome considering they were holding FREE pet adoptions, but everything had exceeded my expectations immediately upon arrival Saturday morning. I was greeted with an upbeat and friendly emcee who was openly inviting all pedestrians into the party for free craft beer, free champagne, free live music, free grilled cheese from The Grilled Cheeserie, and more! I couldn’t believe how generous the entire Zappos road show crew was. It was all just to say ‘thanks’ to their loyal customers over the years!

If you ever take a peek into my closet, the number one pattern you’ll see is stripes. Vertical, horizontal, diagonal, you name it, I buy it. Of course, I have a few pieces of floral prints thrown in there, but aside from a collection of mostly solid colors (black, grey, navy, white, and beige), you’ll see a whole lot of stripes.stripes
I grabbed this off-the-shoulder top from Forever 21 when browsing for blouses to include in my spring wardrobe. Of course my eyes immediately found something with stripes. I know I mentioned my casual attire due to my work-from-home job, but it sometimes takes a toll on my outfit creativity when I stick to cotton t-shirts and stretchy pants when I know I don’t have to go out in public. Sometimes simply putting on a flowy blouse or dressy top makes me feel a little more polished and ready for the day.

I hope you all have a great week filled with warmth and sunshine! So excited for Daylight Savings time soon, too!

It’s funny, although I’m not a romantic person whatsoever, I love the theme that is associated with February. Pinks, reds, florals, candies, wines, and all things pretty. I had an incredible weekend that involved all of those things with some wonderful lady friends It was probably the girliest weekend I had in a while.

On Saturday, I attended a #NashGalentines blogger brunch with local style bloggers hosted by Alex of Abundantly Alex and Olivia of Olivia Shea Style. I got to catch up with my friend Greta of Greta Hollar and meet TONS of new badass blogger babes. It was so nice to be in a room full of inspiring young women. We had cocktails, mini bundt cakes, and took photobooth photos while talking about the blogging community in Nashville and about how great it is to see women supporting each other.

On Sunday, I had another lady brunch with some of my best girlfriends at Carli and Julie’s house, where I usually get to be the token American girl. They served grapefruit mimosas, heart shaped fruit, and red velvet waffles with ALL of the toppings. I’m pretty sure I cancelled out my last three weeks at the gym in one sitting. Oh well, it was glorious. It’s so good to be in the presence of friends who can have meaningful conversations about hardships, joy, pain, and life in general. I’m lucky to have celebrated the weekend with so many beautiful gals.

I’m on a bell sleeves kick lately. I want anything and everything with a wide, dramatic sleeve. I don’t know if it’s because it makes me feel witchy and fabulous or if it’s because it makes the rest of my bulky upper arms appear thinner, but I love them. This is probably the most feminine top in my entire closet, too.

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day and wonderful week ahead!

Cold and dreary days typically mean lots of dark clothing for me. I’ve been living in black and white most days. Because I work from home, I usually rotate between the same 3 pair of dark leggings + black denim and swap out different worn in t-shirts. When I’m feeling a little more ambitious or I know I’m leaving the house, I’ll throw on an airy blouse and try to look a bit more like an adult. Over the weekend, Steve and I grabbed a cup of coffee at Sip Cafe before he took off to work and I came home to buckle down on some work projects. Our time together is few and far between lately, so we try to make the most of it by getting out of the house, even if it’s just down the road for a few minutes.

I’m so glad that I was able to have a productive weekend. I spent the majority of Saturday and Sunday drinking coffee and plugging away on my computer. It’s always a bummer when there are so many fun things going on in town, but it’s also rewarding to know that the sacrifice of not participating paid off in the long run. I set my book publishing date for February 28th, so I don’t have any time to fool around. It’s going to be an INSANE 30 days coming up. I’m bracing myself.

I’m really excited to share about the event I attended last night called Supper At Her Table. I had learned about it through some inspiring Nashville ladies on Instagram a while back and decided to finally but the bullet and purchase myself a ticket to an event. It was the most uplifting thing I’ve been a part of in Nashville since moving here. I’m so glad I made the decision to go. I met some of the most incredible, hardworking, and encouraging women while sharing a meal in a safe environment. We got to hear Ruthie Lindsey share her brave story about overcoming some major life challenges and then enjoyed live music from Birdtalker. It was AMAZING.
