I feel like I’m getting my groove back after being in somewhat of an exhausted slump since I returned from Mexico last month. This past week has been more productive than the entire month of July so far and it feels good to have my energy return. Now if I can just get myself to finish up our garden out back, I’ll feel more accomplished. I knew yard work was going to take a lot of elbow grease and motivation at this house, but¬†man, it takes some serious dedication to stay on top of it. Kudos to all you homeowners that spend hours on end in the yard making sure everything is neat. I can barely keep my green bean sprouts alive and those are the easiest things to grow. I’ve got a long road ahead of me, haha!

A couple nights ago, Steve and I decided to go on a last minute dinner date to our favorite taco spot, Bartaco after picking up his car with newly replaced tires. We weren’t ready to go back home (where I spend all day every day working) so I offered up the idea of grabbing a late dinner. I say this every time we randomly go out during the week, but it never fails to amaze me how good it feels to break up the week with a mid-week date and a cocktail.

airyairyI wore this delicate, lacy white top with my favorite loose-fitting and flowy palazzo pants. The heat has been insane in Nashville this week, so I wanted something light and airy that wouldn’t make me feel even sweatier. The older I get, the more I appreciate a good pair of loose-fitted, comfortable pants. Especially since I no longer work in an office.

So happy that it’s Friday! Tonight I’m grabbing drinks with friends, tomorrow we’re going to the Elliston Place Street Fest, and Sunday I’m going to do some gardening. Hold me accountable. ūüėČ Have a great weekend!

I decided to take a month-ish off from blogging this mid-summer so that I could catch up on some much needed personal time, freelance, and social activity while also focusing on my mental health. It was definitely worth the break and I’m glad I spent some time with my laptop shut. The month of June was a total blur; I watched the Nashville Predators make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, traveled to Mexico with my coworkers for our Q3 offsite, hosted my mom and sister for a fun weekend in Nashville, and spent the end of the month getting over a sinus infection.

The last week and a half were spent traveling to Cincinnati, Detroit, Ayr, Parry Sound, and Muskegon for family visits, 2 weddings, and fun with friends. We made it back home late Sunday night after a blown out tire in Indianapolis and some major traffic delays. Fortunately we were still able to catch the premiere of Game of Thrones, so the day wasn’t a total loss. To say it’s been a tiring week is an understatement. I’m happy to be home where I can hit reset and get some quality rest.

Last night we intended to see Charlie Worsham play at Basement East for his ‘Every Damn Monday’ residency, but it sold out before we got in. So instead we met our good friends Brian and Trisha at Jeni’s for some ice cream and good conversation. It actually was just what I needed.

I wore this pale pink embroidered top I got on sale at Zara last night and I love the loose fit. I’ve never been much of a pink girl, but I couldn’t resist buying once I saw it. It helps that I have a bit of sun on my skin finally, otherwise pastels completely wash me out.

It feels good to see the start of a brand new month. May was great and full of adventure, but I couldn’t seem to stay on top of everything I wanted to accomplish. It just went by way too quickly. It was nice to travel to Asheville, see family and friends, and watch Steve play a few shows, but it was a whirlwind of a month. I’m happy to be back home, getting work done, and getting back into a blogging routine. Today I’m showing you all my new favorite casual fringe dress from Lulus (and it’s on sale!)
fringe dressfringe dressfringe dressSpeaking of being home, I really need to buckle down this weekend and finish some more things around the house. I feel like we’re still trying to settle in after a couple months. I need to empty a few more bins and baskets so I can start organizing our storage closet and basement. Then I can finally move on to starting a garden! I can’t wait to start growing my own herbs and vegetables. I also see a couple fruit trees in my future. I’m slowly adapting to this country life, but I’m loving it.

fringe dressfringe dress¬†I have to share some product love real quick. I ordered this foaming self tanner mousse from Loving Tan a week ago, and I’m obsessed with it. It’s so great for on the go, because it’s an instant tan while also building tan over time and lasts for a few days. It definitely makes me feel more confident for a night out with exposed legs and arms. (This is 100% not sponsored, I just¬†really love this self tanner and highly recommend it.)

fringe dressfringe dressTonight I’m going to watch Steve play a showcase at The Basement and then I have a weekend of no plans. I plan to catch up on some rest, get some work done, clean the house, and hopefully play outside a bit if it’s nice out.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Things are finally starting to calm down after a month of moving, cleaning out the old house, setting up a new home office so I can get back into my work routine. Our house is definitely feeling like home now. It’s so nice to wake up, make my coffee, and walk over to my office and have my routine back. I get all sorts of out of whack when my workday routine gets jacked. It feels good to feel normal again. This past Saturday I hosted a Lifestyle Blogging Basics workshop for the Nashville Blogging Collective. I love the girls I meet through that network so dang much. I always feel re-energized after meeting incredible like-minded Nashville bloggers. Special thanks to Tiffany of Tiff + Coco for inviting me to host the workshop! I had the best time.

I had so much fun this past weekend at the Zappos Friends with Benefits Road Show here in Nashville. I already had assumed the event would be awesome considering they were¬†holding FREE pet adoptions, but everything¬†had exceeded my expectations immediately upon arrival Saturday morning. I was greeted with an upbeat and friendly emcee who was openly inviting all pedestrians into the party for free craft beer, free champagne, free live music, free grilled cheese from The Grilled Cheeserie, and more! I couldn’t believe how generous the entire Zappos road show¬†crew was. It was all just to say ‘thanks’ to their loyal customers over the years!
