Outfits

I love staple accessories. I’m not much of a jewelry and handbag buyer, so when I find pieces that I can wear with anything and that are wearable year-round, I’m all in. Especially during the holiday season when there seems to suddenly be more events, dinner parties, and family gatherings. It’s nice to find accessories (especially jewelry) that is both tasteful and timeless.

fossil bag This Fossil handbag is my new favorite accessory. As an adult, I’ve ditched the giant totes and have been sticking to small to mid-sized cross-bodies that don’t take up too much space or are heavy enough to give me back and shoulder problems. My thoughts on smaller bags: you’ll learn to only carry what is absolutely essential. I don’t need to carry an extra hairbrush, some mouthwash, 9 shades of lipstick, a laptop, and enough snacks to survive an apocalypse. A small bag is good enough for me.  fossil bag fossil bag On Black Friday, Fossil is offering 30% off site-wide! It’s been a minute. My life has mainly consisted of working my butt off on product and course improvements at work and trying to not fall asleep at 5:30pm now that it gets dark super early. I also was in San Diego two weeks ago for a Book-Based Business Mastermind that I co-hosted with my Self-Publishing School coworkers, and that was awesome. Other than that, I’m just trying to stay on top of my day-to-day tasks. Does anyone else have a hard time adjusting to the lack of sunset in fall/winter? It’s always so challenging for me this time of year.

I haven’t been to any Disney theme parks since I was in middle school, so I’m looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about. I’ve typically been pretty apathetic toward Disney, but I’m really looking forward to eating and drinking in every ‘country’ and spending quality time with my coworkers. Plus, I’m getting to a point where if I don’t have travel plans each month I get restless and antsy for my next adventure. This at least holds me over until the holidays. flounceflounce

I’m back from sunny San Diego and ready to jump back into my normal daily routine! In this final edition of cousin style, I’m sharing the last set of photos from our photoshoot in Denver. Katelyn and I had both selected a few favorite pieces from Sparrow Boutique, so we found a few different ways to style some outfits for autumn. The green jacket I wore in a few posts back was at the top of my list along with this dark purple Madison cold shoulder turtleneck sweater. It has already become a staple since the temperatures dropped a bit.

I got to explore a little bit of the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver. From a sweet little coffee shop to fun architecture and an old record shop. It reminded me a bit of East Nashville. I loved the charming and friendly vibes of the area.

Both these ones that I’m wearing and these Gucci look-alikes are everything. Target is killing the style game lately. Anyone else loving their new brands? I’m a big fan of the Who What Wear collection and the A New Day collection.

I’m ready to tackle some outstanding tasks since I left for California and get some housework done this week. Looking forward to getting some rest this weekend for the first time in weeks. It’s going to be glorious.

Last week was a total whirlwind. This fall transition has been quite an interesting one so far. After returning from Colorado, we spent only a couple days at home in Nashville before taking off to Michigan for a packed weekend of family events. Since we had Friday evening open, we grabbed dinner with my parents at the boat club to enjoy a bit of calm before the storm. fall transition

Saturday was my niece’s 2nd birthday, so we had a tea party at my sister’s house in the morning. Then, later that evening we went to a friend’s wedding reception where I got to be their photographer. It was a busy but fun day.

It’s always fun to watch people take the next big leap in building their business and I know it’ll be the kick in the pants I need to work more steadily on my side hustle. I look forward to sharing a bit of southern California with you all on Instagram as well, so be sure to keep a look out for my stories.

I’m back with more cousin style from my trip to Colorado. These photos were taken in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver, an area that I was a big fan of. I’m so glad I had Katelyn to show me around all the cool parts of the city. After we grabbed iced lattes at Hudson Hill, we stepped out into the hot summer air and walked the streets to discover the beauty and architecture near Pearl Street.

Before autumn totally sets in, I wanted to get in a few more days of wearing cool tones. Fortunately the Denver heat made it still feel like summer, so I didn’t feel entirely silly wearing white pants and loose, summery tops. I also think the ‘no white after Labor Day’ is ludicrous and that rules are made for chumps. 😉

Steve calls this my “parachute shirt” and it always makes me laugh. It does remind me of the kindergarden days of playing with a giant parachute in gym class. Ya know, where you get in a circle with all your classmates and lift the parachute up really high while still holding on, and then going underneath it like a dome? Anyone?

Well, that’s all for now. It’s been an extremely heavy day and I’m just trying to take deep breaths and keep my chin up. My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone affected by the senseless and violent act in Las Vegas last night. I’m also heartbroken over the news of Tom Petty. What a tragic day.

Stand your ground, friends.
